A PEOPLE OF PLUNDER

On Sunday, Andrew Johnson gave a compelling talk on our propensity to plunder the Earth’s resources as soon as we forget that we ourselves came from the dust.  He quoted lots of different authors so below is a short list of some of the thinkers he drew from.  Enjoy!

RESOURCES FROM ANDREW

Rebecca Solnit, The Encyclopedia of Trouble and Spaciousness
Ta-Nehisi Coates, Between the World and Me
Pope Francis, Laudato Si
Martin Prechtel, The Sound of Rain on Dust
Wendell Berry, What Are People For?
Ronald Wright, A Short History of Progress

“Do not be daunted by the enormity of the world’s grief.
Walk humbly now. Do justly now. Love mercy now.
You are not expected to complete the work,
but neither are you free to abandon it.”

Shapiro, Wisdom of the Jewish Sages, 41, and basically a commentary on Micah 6:8.
